Hello, I'm currently revising my Service Area Locations.
After looking at my previous set locations (image attached), it looks like I was going for regional. Since my services are almost all non regional based, other than maybe photo restoration and video editing (although those services are not necessarily location based either), I'm wondering if I should go for a broader location list. Such as all large cities in every province? Or maybe limit it to large-medium SK cities/towns and also large cities in western Canada?
Also, would I do the same for my website footer as well (image attached)?

Hey Erin!

I didn't see an attachment? Locations for non-brick & mortar locations requires a bit of testing. Customers most often prefer a local service when possible so I might suggest the 12 largest communities in Sask followed by 5 large communities in AB & MB plus the 3 prairie provinces. This will bring you to the max of 20.

Alternatively you could add the 20 largest cities in western Canada.

Adding cities will give you more traction than provinces or countries.

Re your footer there are mixed results for footers. Website are not geographically held so it is more important to attract traffic outside your community to help Google understand that your business serves a broader audience. Take a look at your GAnalytics and see where your traffic comes from. Adding a we serve… statement doesn't hurt but also may not help. Just fyi.

Cheers,
Barb

Oh darn, I thought I attached my images to the post. I'll try again in this reply.
Ok, thanks for the info. I think I may wait for a week or so to revise since I just added the new GA tag to my website yesterday and I'm not receiving any data yet.

Definitely wait a week. Depending on traffic volumes and the "degree" of the change it can take a few weeks to see a difference - better or not.

Looks like I'm getting data as of yesterday, but yeah I think I'll wait a week or so.
